jammin' with
God

a Christian musician’s perspective
by Pete Caputo
What is jammin’ with God?

Quite simply, it's spending time with God, through the mind of a musician. However, the problem quickly arises; how to stay focused in prayer, with that 4/4 beat and a haunting melody stuck in your brain? Some call it A.D.D., (attention deficit disorder). Some say, "Dude, you gotta change. But here, we just say, "bring it, burn it, and offer it up as a sacrifice."

Now, you don't have to be a musician to understand where I'm going, here. You just need to be someone who cares about your walk with the Lord, someone who want's to know Him better each day, even though you're constantly aware of that strong bond between your flesh and your soul. At times, it gets you down. Kinda makes you want to give up, but you know deep inside that you never will.

Because your relationship to God is ultimately the most important thing to you. After all, eternity is a very long time, (if we can call it time), and you know that you were created to spend it with Him. So, for now, the time we spend here on earth is an echo of the future, (not the past), and all we learn, all we endure and all we experience, will transcend into our eternal existence in God.

You're not freaked out or anything yet..., are you?

Good!

Rule 1; Bring no preconceived thoughts, ideas, notions, prejudices, judgments or agendas. In order to jam, you just need to bring,... you,... nothing else.

Rule 2; When you start to think about what you're doing, refer to Rule 1.

OK, let's jam! And a one..., and a two.......
